Welcome to the Year 3 blog!

Lantern Parade

18th October 2018

Rowan class took part in a lantern making workshop today, as part of the Frome Lanterns project for the Frome Christmas Lights Switch On.

All of the children in Rowan class made a lantern using willow and tissue paper.  They will be able to take them to the Christmas light switch on event.

Cheddar Caves

12th October 2018

Year 3 visited Cheddar Caves.  We found out lots about Cheddar Man and how the Stone Age people used to live.  We found out how they used to light fires.  Some children even got to dress up in reindeer skins!

5th October 2018

We have really enjoyed reading the text 'The Stone Age Boy'.  We have re-told the story using pictures and then started to re-write the story using paragraphs.

5th October 2018

We have been continuing to learn how to play chess.  We have been learning how the Queen moves around the board.

New Laptops

27th September 2018

We have been learning to use the lovely new laptops this week.  We have been practising our timestables using them.  We used 'Hit the Button' to help us build up our quick recall speed.

Roald Dahl Day

14th September 2018

We celebrated Roald Dahl Day on 13th September by all dressing up as characters from his stories.  We had several 'Matildas', a few 'Enormous Crocodiles' a couple of 'Verucca Salts' and even a 'Willie Wonka' in class today.

Times Tables

7th September 2018

We have had a lovely start to the new academic year.

In maths we have been practising our times tables.  We are currently revising the 2, 5 and 10 times tables, which the children should already be familiar with.

We will soon move on to learn the 3, 4 and 8 times tables.

Why not use 'Hit the Button' to help with learning times tables.
