Friends of St John's

St John's has a strong community atmosphere and the 'Friends of St John's' aims to strengthen this close-knit, family feeling. We try to ensure there are plenty of opportunities for families to get together outside school hours, partly to get to know the school community and partly to help raise funds for the school.

Some of the events we have held in previous years include;

  • Christmas and summer fairs
  • Movie and quiz nights
  • Design your own Christmas card
  • Spelliarmus collection of pupils' Harry Potter short stories

Money raised by the Friends has helped towards the purchase of many items for the school, most recently including;

  • A contribution towards a class set of laptops
  • 2 cookers and trolleys
  • Playground equipment and storage
  • A contribution to each class

Our fundraising events can only take place with the commitment and enthusiasm of the parents and staff, either through organising, or coming along to the events to support them. We are always very grateful for any help offered. You can do as little or as much as you like; be a committee member, run a stall at our next event, think of an idea for an event you think we could organise in the future or share a useful contact or skill to help with our fund-raising (we can never have too many face-painters!). Of course if you're unable to help in this way, maybe we could ask you simply to come along to one of our events and spend a pound or two? We would love to see you.
