Year 2 Blog

Welcome to the Year 2 blog!

Pirate Day

26th October 2018

We had lots of fun dressing up as pirates and making pirate ships.  We tested our ships to see if they floated and could be powered by wind.  We learnt a pirate song and danced to it, made pirate passports and telescopes, and used beebots on a pirate treasure map.  We had an amazing day!

Rosh Hashanah

28th September 2018

Today we learnt about Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish festival to celebrate their new year.  They eat sweet foods, like apples dipped in honey and challah bread which is shaped like a circle to remind them of the year going round and round.  We tried these foods and enjoyed talking about the festival.

Roald Dahl Day

13th September 2018

We had a fantastic day on 13th September for Roald Dahl Day.  The children's costumes were amazing and we enjoyed lots of activities about Roald Dahl stories.

Land Ahoy!

We are really excited about our first topic, which is called Land Ahoy!  Please read our newsletter to find out more about our learning this half term.
