Children in Beech and Fir Classes went back in time to find out what school would have been like in 1930.
Their day began with the teacher ringing the school bell to call them in. In the classroom, boys and girls were seated
separately, in rows, and the teachers taught them using a blackboard, slates and chalk.
They learned about 1930s' school rules, including how children had to keep their eyes to the front and sit up straight, and about how if children were fidgeting, they would be punished - maybe with the dunce's cap and maybe the cane!
Children, staff and parents also walked to the Bennett Centre at St John's Church Hall. They spent time in the old classroom, visited the cloisters and looked at old photos from when it was part of the original St John's School many years ago.
